What is Pilates?

Joseph Pilates created the Pilates Method of exercise in 1912. His guiding philosophy was that achieving good health means that the whole being-body, mind and spirit-must be addressed. Pilates is a series of exercises done on the Pilates equipment or on a mat.  The exercises will strengthen the whole body, especially the core and increase flexibility, strength, balance and muscle tone.


The Pilates Method is great for anyone, if you are recovering from an injury, an athlete conditioning for a sport, need relief of back pain, or wanting to get into the best shape of your life. No matter your age or your goals! It is a safe and effective way to gain strength and flexibility, change your posture and feel better in your body.

What is Corrective Exercise?


Corrective exercise is a system that assesses the body and finds the reason for unexplained pain or problems with movement. Then we can target the problem area with specific exercises to correct the issue. Trained in "The Biomechanics Method for Corrective Exercise" by Justin Price.

About the Trainer


Cathy Huffman is a former elite gymnast and dancer. As with many people, an injury steered her to try Pilates. After her first class, she was hooked! "Pilates has been the one exercise that has kept me healthy and strong and surgery free"
